This article explains what to do when The Platform shows the impact story as incomplete and will not allow the Apprentice to submit a project. This can happen even when the impact story has been written and saved.
For general guidance on submitting a project, see How to Submit a Project on The Platform. For a project that is stuck after submission, see Troubleshooting Project Submissions and Locked Reviews.
What is happening
The impact story is a mandatory step. The Apprentice must complete the impact story before The Platform allows a project to be submitted. The submit project button can stay locked for more than one reason. Often this is a platform issue, where a completed impact story is not registered. Sometimes a step in the impact story has not fully saved. The checks below resolve the second type of case.
Checks to try first
Complete the following checks in order. These resolve some cases where a step in the impact story has not fully registered. They do not work in every case.
Open the impact story and confirm every part of the wizard is complete. The wizard asks for the problem, the solution, the stage of impact, and the financial figures behind the result.
Save the impact story again, then refresh the page.
Confirm the project itself meets every requirement listed in the project brief.
If the project still will not submit
If the submit project button stays locked after these checks, the Apprentice must contact the Multiverse Support Team. Provide the information below so the team can investigate quickly.
Information to provide | Why it helps |
Programme name | Confirms which submission route applies |
Project name or number | Identifies the exact submission |
Screenshot of the completed impact story | Shows the impact story has been finished |
Screenshot of the locked Submit project button | Shows the blocker the Apprentice is seeing |
Date and time of the most recent attempt | Helps the team trace the issue |
Any approaching deadline | Allows the team to protect the assessment window |
The Apprentice should mention any approaching deadline. The Multiverse Support Team can then protect the assessment window while the issue is investigated.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Questions | Answers |
Question: Has the Apprentice done something wrong? | Answer: Usually not. The locked button is often a platform issue, where a completed impact story is not registered. In some cases a step in the impact story has not fully saved. The checks above resolve that second type of case. |
Question: What should the Apprentice do if a deadline is approaching? | Answer: Contact the Multiverse Support Team as soon as possible and state the deadline clearly. The Multiverse Support Team will investigate the blocker and advise on the submission. |
Question: Can the Apprentice edit the impact story after the project has been submitted? | Answer: No. Once a project is submitted, the impact story is locked and the Apprentice cannot edit it alone. This is a separate matter from the blocker described in this article. The Apprentice should contact the Coach, who can help when the project returns for review. |
Question: How long does it take to resolve? | Answer: Resolution time depends on the cause. The Multiverse Support Team resolves some cases quickly. Other cases need a referral to the engineering team. The Apprentice receives an update from the Multiverse Support Team. |
