How to Submit a Project on The Platform

This article explains how the Apprentice submits a project on The Platform. It covers what to prepare before submitting, how to submit, what happens after submission, and how to handle the most common question: whether to revise one section or the full project write-up. For what happens after feedback is returned, see How do I access project feedback and resubmit?

For technical issues such as a stuck or locked submission, see Troubleshooting Project Submissions and Locked Reviews.

Before You Submit

The Apprentice should complete the following checks before clicking submit. Strong preparation reduces the need for multiple resubmissions and helps the project meet the required standard on the first attempt.

  1. Check the project brief. The Apprentice must open the project brief on The Platform and confirm that every requirement listed in the rubric has been addressed. Each requirement maps to a Knowledge, Skill, or Behaviour (KSB) that will be assessed.

  2. Check the evidence is complete. The Apprentice should make sure that written explanations, screenshots, code, or attached files are all included in the submission. Missing evidence is the most common reason a project is marked Needs More Work.

  3. Save work in a separate location. The Apprentice is responsible for keeping a personal copy of their work. The Platform does not provide a download option for completed project submissions.

How to Submit a Project

Follow these steps to submit a project for review.

  1. Open the project on The Platform.

  2. Complete every section required by the project brief.

  3. Attach any supporting files where the brief requires them.

  4. Review the work against the rubric one final time.

  5. Click Submit project.

Once submitted, the project enters the review queue and is temporarily locked. The lock ensures that The Coach or the automated system assesses a stable version of the work.

What Happens After Submission

Projects on The Platform are evaluated through one of two methods.

  • Instant Feedback. Most projects receive automated feedback from Atlas, the AI Coach, within five minutes of submission. The Apprentice receives a notification on The Platform when feedback is ready.

  • Manual Review. Some projects require a human marker. These reviews can take up to 72 hours. The Apprentice receives a notification when feedback is available.

The project remains locked until feedback is returned. During this time, The Apprentice cannot edit the submission. For full guidance on reviewing feedback and resubmitting, see How do I access project feedback and resubmit?

Revising One Section or the Whole Project

This is the question The Apprentice asks most often after receiving feedback. The answer is straightforward.

The Apprentice does not need to rewrite the whole project. Feedback on The Platform identifies the specific sections that need more work. The Apprentice should focus revisions only on the parts the feedback highlights. The full project write-up only needs to be adjusted if the feedback explicitly says so. In most cases, targeted edits to the flagged sections are enough to move the project from Needs More Work to Meets Expectations.

Important: There is no limit on the number of resubmissions. The Apprentice can resubmit the project as many times as needed to reach Meets Expectations.

Questions

Answers

Question: How does the Apprentice submit a project on The Platform?

Answer: The Apprentice opens the project on The Platform, completes every required section, attaches any supporting files, and clicks Submit project. The project enters the review queue and is temporarily locked until feedback is returned.

Question: What file formats are accepted for project submissions?

Answer: The accepted formats are defined within each project brief on The Platform. The Apprentice should check the brief for that specific project before preparing files.

Question: If feedback says a section needs more work, does the Apprentice need to rewrite the whole project?

Question: What happens if The Apprentice misses a project deadline?

Answer: The Platform does not technically prevent resubmission after a deadline. The Apprentice should contact the Coach to agree a plan for catching up.

Question: Does the submission process differ between programmes such as Data Fellowship (DF) and Software Engineering (SWE)?

Answer: The submission process on The Platform is the same across all programmes. Project briefs, rubrics, and KSB requirements differ by programme. The Apprentice should refer to the specific brief on The Platform and speak to the Coach for programme-specific guidance.
