What Do I Need to Prepare for My End Point Assessment (EPA)?

The materials an Apprentice must prepare for their End Point Assessment (EPA) depend on their apprenticeship standard. This article explains what to prepare for each EPA method used at Multiverse. Multiverse apprenticeships use one of two EPA methods. The Apprentice's Coach confirms which method applies, but the table below gives a general guide by programme.

You may see "AM1" and "AM2" used on any programme, including DIBD. They simply mean Assessment Method 1 and Assessment Method 2. What each method actually involves depends on the specific standard, not the label.

This method applies to DIBD Level 3 apprentices, assessed by Accelerate People.

The Apprentice builds a portfolio throughout the apprenticeship. The portfolio shows real workplace examples of the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) required by the standard. The examiner uses the portfolio to guide a Professional Discussion: a structured conversation, not a memory test.

The Scenario Demonstration is a timed exercise. The Apprentice receives a realistic work task and analyses it on the spot, then answers follow-up questions from the assessor.

This method applies to Data Fellowship and most Level 4 and above programmes.

Before Gateway, the Apprentice submits a short project proposal. This scopes the business problem the work-based project will address. The Coach confirms the exact word limit for the programme. The post-Gateway email confirms the proposal is approved to proceed; there is no separate confirmation.

After Gateway, the Apprentice writes the full work-based project report. This is a longer document than the proposal and maps directly to the KSBs required by the standard. The Coach confirms the required word count and format for the specific programme.

The Apprentice prepares a presentation to accompany the work-based project, with speaker notes. The Apprentice delivers this presentation during the AM1 assessment, followed by a questioning session.

Separately, the Apprentice builds a portfolio of evidence for the AM2 Professional Discussion. This portfolio must cover different KSBs to the ones evidenced in the AM1 work-based project. Covering the same KSB in both AM1 and AM2 does not meet the assessment requirement.

The Apprentice's Success Coach runs EPA office hours ahead of the EPA period. Office hours are the main scheduled preparation support. Coaches also offer practice sessions for the interview and presentation components, and short 1:1 check-ins for revision strategies and general EPA process questions. There is no separate mandatory "EPA Prep Clinic". If an Apprentice cannot find office hours or related materials on the Multiverse platform, they should contact their Coach directly or raise it with Support through the Support Hub.
