Why an Activity Shows "Not Included in Selection of Participants"

This article explains why an activity shows the 'not included in selection of participants' message and how to unlock it by completing the previous step in the learning path.


Sometimes the Apprentice opens a module or quiz and sees the message: "You are not included in the selection of participants that can complete this activity". In most cases this means an earlier step in the learning path is not yet marked complete. The activity stays locked until the step before it is finished. This article explains how to unlock it.

Why This Message Appears

The Platform releases each activity in order. When a page directly before the current one is not marked as complete, The Platform locks the next activity and shows the "not included in selection of participants" message. The content is not missing. It is waiting for the previous step to register as finished.

How to Unlock the Activity

Follow these steps in order.

  1. Open the course sidebar on the left and find the activity you are trying to open.

  2. Look at the pages directly above it in the list.

  3. Open the page directly above and scroll to the very bottom.

  4. If a blue "Mark as complete" button is shown, select it.

  5. Check that every topic above your current activity has a green completion tick in the sidebar.

Once The Platform registers the previous step as 100 percent complete, the next activity unlocks straight away.

If the Activity Is Still Locked

If every previous step shows a green tick and the message still appears, this is not a prerequisite problem. The Apprentice should contact the Multiverse Support Team through the chat widget. The team can check whether the account is correctly enrolled on the activity and fix it if it is not.
