What is the Degree Pathway Partnership with Northeastern University?

Complete the Multiverse Advanced Analytics apprenticeship, matriculate to the Northeastern University College of Professional Studies, earn a Bachelor’s Degree, and be employed the entire time.

  • The working and learning in a Multiverse Advanced Analytics apprenticeship is recognized for 12 credits spread across four core courses towards a Northeastern University Bachelor of Science in Analytics Degree.

  • Following apprenticeship completion and matriculation to the Northeastern University College for Professional Studies, individuals can continue studying towards their degree with a jumpstart provided by their apprenticeship.

Why did Multiverse Partner with Northeastern?

Long famous for their co-op programs, Northeastern University is well known for valuing the workplace as an effective classroom.

I thought I didn’t need a college degree to join a Multiverse program?

At no point is a college degree required to apply for or join a Multiverse program. The Multiverse-Northeastern Degree Pathway creates an opportunity for Advanced Analytics apprentices to continue their professional learning post apprenticeship completion, if they choose, by pursuing an Analytics Degree with Northeastern University.

What kind of degree would I receive from Northeastern?

What is the cost?

This opportunity changes nothing about the terms of a Multiverse apprenticeship. An apprentice is still paid by their employer and is required to pay no tuition. Upon matriculation to the Northeastern University College of Professional Studies, completed Multiverse apprentices are recognized for having completed four core courses totaling 12 credits at no cost to the apprentice.

  • If the individual has previous college credits, they can submit all relevant transcripts with their application. Coursework will be reviewed and applicable transfer credits awarded.

  • Remaining coursework required to earn the Northeastern University Bachelor of Science in Analytics Degree is $541/credit, subject to annual review.

  • The majority of Multiverse clients already have tuition benefit programs for current employees. Most often, employers will reimburse up to $5,250 per year in education towards a degree. Talk to your manager and/or your employer’s Human Resources department to learn more about the benefits at your employer and how they apply to you.

Case study 1

Going to Northeastern part time (~8 credits per semester) with employer tuition reimbursement of $5,250 per year. No transfer credits beyond the 12 credits recognized for the Multiverse Advanced Analytics apprenticeship.

  • Up to 4.5 years (14 semesters) to earn a BSc.

  • $6,436 per year or $32,178 total tuition out of pocket (in today's dollars/tuition rate) before financial aid, Pell Grants, etc. Not including the additional $26,250 tuition reimbursed by the employer.

Case study 2

Going to Northeastern full time with no employer assistance. 60 total transfer credits including both previous college coursework and the Multiverse apprenticeship.

  • As short as 16 months (4 semesters) to earn a BSc.

  • $16,230 per year or $32,460 total tuition (in today's dollars/tuition rate) before financial aid, Pell Grants, etc.

My manager has some questions about the cost of the program and how to support my application. Who can I direct them to?

Tuition benefits will vary by employer; managers can help support by connecting employees with their human resources department to explore reimbursement options. More information on Northeastern University’s Third-Party Reimbursement Policy can be found on the Student Financial Service’ Billing & Payments page. Students can explore additional funding options such as financial aid, scholarships, Tuition Rates, here.

What is the application process like?

  1. Creating a secure username/PIN.

  2. Entering personal, contact, educational, and employer information.

  3. Choosing language and/or submitting English language test scores.

  4. Submitting your Multiverse Certificate and if applicable, any transcripts from prior college or university coursework.

Any current or successfully completed US Advanced Analytics (also previously known as Data Fellowship) Multiverse apprentice.

Isn’t Northeastern University a highly competitive school? I’m not sure I can get in?

The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University is designed for working adults with professional experience much like a Multiverse alumni. While the degree you will earn is a Northeastern University degree, the acceptance rate at the College of Professional Studies is much higher than the standard Northeastern acceptance rate. Successfully completed Multiverse apprentices will effectively see preferred admission.

How does it work?

Upon successful completion of the Multiverse apprenticeship and acceptance into Northeastern University, individuals will enroll and begin taking courses. All courses are virtual without any geographic requirements. The volume of courses you choose to take will depend on your individual circumstances:

  1. Some may be working full time or have other commitments and take courses part time

  2. Some may choose to enroll full time

How long will it take to earn a degree?

It depends on if you have previous college credits to transfer to Northeastern, the volume of those credits which successfully transfer, and the volume of coursework you choose to take towards your degree.

Case study 1

  • With previous college coursework and the 12 recognized credits for their Multiverse apprenticeship, some individuals might have up to 60 credits recognized by Northeastern. In this case, an individual needs to earn an additional 60 credits for a Bachelor's degree.

  • An individual beginning at Northeastern with 60 credits who takes courses full time year round (15 credits per semester including summer) could finish their Bachelor’s degree in as quick as 16 months.

Case study 2

  • With no previous college credit, some individuals will be starting at Northeastern with the 12 credits recognized from their Multiverse apprenticeship. In this case, an individual needs to earn an additional 108 credits for a Bachelor’s degree.

  • An individual beginning at Northeastern with 12 credits who takes 8 credits per semester year round could take upwards of 5 years to complete their degree.

How is this degree pathway different from any other MV program?

Multiverse programs provide excellent training to accelerate careers in digital, data, and tech at no expense to the individual. Each program is up to 15 months long and awards a Multiverse Certificate upon successful completion. The degree pathway builds on this foundation for Advanced Analytics apprentices with an opportunity to deepen their data knowledge and skills recognized by a Bachelor's degree in Analytics from an elite higher education provider.

What kind of degree would I obtain?

Which Multiverse Programs are eligible?

What happens if I don’t get into Northeastern? How do these credits apply to other schools?

These guaranteed 12 credits in four core courses only apply to Northeastern University. If interested in continuing your education at a different higher education institution, Multiverse graduates of the Advanced Analytics apprenticeship (or any other Multiverse apprenticeship) are encouraged to provide their Multiverse Certificate to that institution’s transfer department and work directly with university officials to determine credit transfer opportunities.

I finished my Multiverse apprenticeship a year ago and would like to work for another year before applying to Northeastern. Is there a window of time after my Multiverse apprenticeship finishes in which I need to apply to Northeastern?

In accordance with College Transfer Policy; credits earned in science and technology are valid for a period of 7 years (credit earned more than 7 years ago will be applied as open electives). The College reserves the right to revise transfer credit for reasons deemed necessary by the College.

What if I’ve already completed a Data Fellowship apprenticeship? Am I eligible for credits?

Yes. All US Multiverse Advanced Analytics (previously known as Data Fellowship) apprentices who have successfully completed the program are eligible.

If I am not accepted, can I re-apply again in the future?

Yes. If you are not successful, you will be eligible to apply after one year.

I completed a Multiverse apprenticeship but it wasn’t Data Fellowship/AdA, will I be eligible for an opportunity like this in the future?

Not currently. We would like to expand degree pathways for other Multiverse programs in the US but do not have more details at this time.

Do I have to live near Northeastern University to take classes?

No. All courses are virtual and can be taken anywhere.
