What Does Completing an Application Involve?
Participating in one of our apprenticeships is an exciting opportunity to expand your skills and career prospects. However, before you can embark on this journey, you must complete an application that enables our Admissions team to assess your eligibility. This guide outlines what this process looks like. Be prepared for the possibility that the Admissions team may contact you for additional information or clarification after you have submitted your application.
Application Steps
1. Create Your Profile
The first step is to create a profile using the link provided in your welcome email. This will allow you to access the application portal and be linked with your employers account. For more detailed instructions on setting up your account, please see here.
2. Speak to Your Manager
Before completing your application, it's crucial to discuss your intentions with your manager. Their support will be integral to your success in the apprenticeship. Once your application process begins, your manager will receive a questionnaire to confirm that you have the necessary support in place. More information on what your manager will be asked can be found here.
3. Complete Your Application
Allocate between 1 and 2 hours to fill out your application, as it typically takes 30-45 minutes to complete, but can be paused and resumed at your convenience. Here's what you'll need to address:
Eligibility: Since apprenticeships are funded by the government's apprenticeship levy, you must meet specific eligibility criteria. Access detailed information on these requirements here.
Prior Learning: It's important that the apprenticeship provides new skills and knowledge. To avoid duplication of existing skills due to government funding stipulations, learn more about prior learning here.
Role Fit: Your role must allow you to apply what you learn from the apprenticeship meaningfully. Both you and your manager will be asked questions to ascertain this. Explore the specific requirements of each programme here.
In addition to these topics, you'll be asked about:
Shift work (weekends/evenings).
Any known factors that could affect your ability to complete the apprenticeship (e.g., upcoming role changes).
4. Maths and English
You must provide evidence of level 2 qualifications in maths and English to complete an apprenticeship in the UK. More information on evidence requirements can be found here. You’ll also be asked to take an initial assessment in maths and English as well as upload evidence of existing qualifications. More information on the initial assessment can be found here.
