What support is available to apprentices during their EPA period?

Updated over a month ago

Multiverse is committed to supporting your apprentice through the critical Post-Gateway phase as they prepare for their End Point Assessment (EPA). This guide details the structured support they will receive and highlights the vital role of their Multiverse EPA Success Coach in building confidence and ensuring preparedness.

Navigating the EPA Period: Comprehensive Apprentice Support

As your apprentice enters the Post-Gateway period, our focus intensifies on reinforcing their learning and boosting their confidence for the EPA. Our support includes:

  • Targeted Confidence Building: Success Coaches provide ongoing motivation and tailored guidance to help apprentices maintain a positive and focused mindset throughout this demanding phase.

  • Accessible Review Resources: Apprentices retain access to a wealth of resources, enabling them to effectively review and refresh their knowledge of previously covered material before assessments.

  • EPA Skills Practice: Success Coaches facilitate dedicated practice sessions for interview and presentation components of the EPA. These sessions focus purely on refining delivery and confidence, not introducing new content.

  • Constructive Post-Assessment Reflection: Following any interview or presentation elements of the EPA, Success Coaches will lead apprentices through structured debriefs to help them reflect on their performance and identify key learning points for future application.

  • Recommended Reinforcement Materials: Throughout the Post-Gateway phase, apprentices will receive curated recommendations for additional resources to help solidify their existing knowledge and skills.

Maintaining EPA Integrity: A Crucial Note

Multiverse strictly adheres to all EPA guidelines to ensure the integrity of the assessment process. Our support is designed to prepare apprentices, but it will not include:

  • Direct feedback on live EPA materials or content.

  • Assistance with creating content for the EPA.

  • Mock EPAs that replicate the live assessment format beyond the skills practice sessions mentioned above.

The Role of the Multiverse EPA Success Coach

Your apprentice's Success Coach is their primary point of contact and a key ally during the Post-Gateway journey. Their role is centred on ensuring preparedness, facilitating access to information, and guiding apprentices to the resources they need for a successful EPA outcome. Their responsibilities include:

  • Optional 1:1 Preparation Check-Ins: Apprentices can proactively book brief 15-minute one-to-one sessions with their Success Coach. These check-ins are valuable for discussing revision strategies, asking general questions about the EPA process, and receiving personalised guidance on their preparation.

  • Monitoring Engagement and Providing Proactive Support: Success Coaches closely monitor apprentice engagement with the provided resources and support structures. This allows them to identify any apprentices who may need additional encouragement or targeted intervention to stay on track for their EPA.

  • Post-Gateway Communication: The Success Coach manages all primary email communication during the Post-Gateway phase. They are equipped to answer apprentice queries directly or efficiently direct them to the support team or other relevant departments when necessary. In the unfortunate event of an unsuccessful assessment result, the Success Coach will be promptly informed and will work directly with the apprentice to outline next steps, including arranging resits and coordinating additional support with Multiverse Tutors.
