When will Multiverse contact my manager?

This article explains when we contact your manager during your application, and what to do if they are unavailable.

Overview

Your manager plays a crucial role in your apprenticeship journey. Before you apply, it's a good idea to have a chat with them. It helps you both align on expectations, and it means your manager knows what to expect if we need to contact them.

Your manager is notified when you have committed to a programme. Before then, we may contact them in two cases:

  • If your employer runs Line Manager sessions, your manager may be invited to one after you submit your programme preference.

  • If we need more information about the duties for your programme, your manager is asked to complete a Duties Attestation. It confirms the duties you marked as 'No' or 'Not sure'.

My manager is out of the office or unavailable. What should I do?

If your manager is unavailable or busy and can't complete the Duties Attestation straight away, don't worry! You can still be finalised.

  • Check in with them. See if there is any way they can squeeze it in, as it helps us get a complete picture of your application.

  • Ask them to complete it when they can, or raise it in your next 1:1.

  • Why timing matters. Their reply helps us complete your application, so please ask them to reply as soon as they can.

  • If they are away for a long period of time and you can find someone else, ask the Multiverse Support Team to arrange it. This can be your employer's apprenticeship team, or someone your manager nominates to cover for them. Someone your manager nominates must manage you, have oversight of your work, and know your role well enough to answer questions about your duties.

  • Check for additional approval. If your employer has an additional approval process, check with your HR or apprenticeship team.

  • Wrong email address? Contact the Multiverse Support Team so that it can be updated.
