Understanding Your Skill Scan and Programme Recommendations

An essential guide to the Multiverse Skill Scan: Learn how to interpret your Role Fit results, address compatibility gaps through Actionable Insights, and successfully navigate the apprenticeship application process.

The Skill Scan is a diagnostic tool designed to assess current skills and workplace context, and to match the Apprentice with a programme where they can succeed. This guide explains how to interpret results and understand programme recommendations.

The Purpose of the Skill Scan

The Skill Scan gives The Apprentice transparency and agency over their learning path. By completing the Skill Scan, The Apprentice provides data that helps determine their Role Fit — a measure of how easy it will be to apply new skills to their current role on a daily basis. This is a key factor in programme success.

Understanding Your Recommendation

How We Calculate Fit

Once the Apprentice completes the Skill Scan questions, The Platform presents a recommendations page. The Platform categorises compatibility with specific programmes based on the current role and its requirements. One of the following Role Fit Scores is shown for each eligible programme.

  • Strong Fit: The current role and workplace context are highly compatible with this programme. This is the best match for applying new skills immediately.

  • Good Fit: The role is well-suited for this programme with a high probability of success, though it may not be the highest compatibility match.

  • Partial Fit: Specific gaps between the current role and the programme requirements have been identified. Note: These must be addressed through Actionable Insights.

  • Limited Fit: Notable differences between the role and the programme requirements require a commitment to specific actions to bridge the gap.

The Compatibility Rationale

Alongside the Role Fit Score, The Platform shows a Compatibility Rationale. This is a detailed breakdown explaining exactly why the Apprentice is a match for a specific programme, or why a different programme might be a better fit.

Taking Action on Your Results

Addressing Fit Gaps (Actionable Insights)

If the Apprentice receives a Partial or Limited fit score, this does not mean they cannot proceed. The Platform provides Actionable Insights — specific steps to address the gaps identified in the Skill Scan. These may include securing different projects at work or gaining access to specific tools. If the Apprentice is confident they can complete the actions, they can proceed to enrol via the Commitment Page.

Selecting Your Programme

The Apprentice can select any eligible programme shown on the recommendations page, regardless of fit score. This moves the Apprentice from assessment to actively choosing their career path.

The Commitment Page

Once the Apprentice selects a programme, The Platform directs them to the Commitment Page. This is the final confirmation step before the programme starts.

On this page, the Apprentice will:

  1. Review the timeline — confirm the programme starts within the next 60 days.

  2. Confirm readiness — acknowledge readiness to enrol.

  3. Commit to actions — if the fit score required Actionable Insights, formally commit to addressing these before the programme starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions

Answers

Question: Why was the Apprentice not rated as a Strong Fit?

Answer: Fit scores are calculated based on the ability to apply specific programme skills in the current role. The Apprentice can review the Compatibility Rationale on the results page for a detailed explanation.

Question: Can the Apprentice still apply if they are not a Strong Fit?

Answer: Yes. The Apprentice can select an eligible programme even if it is not the highest match, provided they review the Actionable Insights and commit to the necessary steps to bridge the gap.

Question: Should the Apprentice complete all Actionable Insights before submitting a commitment?

Answer: No. The Apprentice can submit the application if they are confident they can resolve the actions before the programme starts.

Question: What happens after the Apprentice submits their commitment?

Answer: Submitting the Commitment Page completes the Skill Scan process and submits the apprenticeship application. The application status shows as Pending on The Platform homepage until it is reviewed.

Question: What if the Apprentice wants to change their responses to the Skill Scan?

Answer: The Apprentice must contact the Multiverse Support Team to request an update to Skill Scan responses. The Support Team will initiate the Overturn Process if appropriate.
