What is Excel?

Excel is a widely-used spreadsheet program that enables users to organise, analyse, and manipulate data. It is a versatile tool that is commonly used for managing and analysing data, generating basic visualisation and performing complex calculations. Overall, Excel is an essential tool for anyone who works with data on a regular basis.

When will learners need access to Excel?

Excel is a requirement for relevant programmes starting from month 1. We will begin by introducing learners to the basics of Excel before moving on to more advanced topics such as data cleaning, aggregation, joins, and visualisations.

What access will learners need to Excel?

Learners will need to have Excel 2017 (or above) 64-bit installed on their computer.

What data will be used within Excel?

Multiverse places a great deal of emphasis on data governance and ensures learners are taught how to responsibly work with sensitive and personal data before introducing them to Excel.

During our Excel delivery sessions, we will provide learners with data sets to work with. These data sets will not include any work-related data. However, learners will need to apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills to business cases for their assignments outside of these sessions. As a standard practice, we advise apprentices to redact all personal and sensitive data before loading it into Excel for these assignments.

To ensure that learners can access internal datasets, it is important that clear guidelines for data management are established and any internal data governance policies and processes are documented. Your support in these areas can help learners derive maximum value from the programme.
