What is GitHub?
GitHub is a web-based platform used for version control and collaboration that allows learners to work on projects with their coach. It allows learners to store, manage their code, and share this with coaches in a secure manner.
When will learners need access to GitHub?
Learners must be able to access GitHub by month 15 on the Advanced Data Fellowship programme or Flying Start for Software Engineering.
What access will learners need to GitHub?
Apprentices will be required to create a free account which is not linked to your organisation. Please test the URL https://github.com/ and ensure this is allowlisted within your organisation if required.
Depending on your security policies, the ability to upload code may be blocked. Please ensure the learners have the ability to independently push code to GitHub.
What data will be uploaded to GitHub?
No data pertaining to your organisation will be uploaded to GitHub. Multiverse will provide dummy data to the learners to ensure they are not pushing code that is confidential to your organisation.
